Five easy steps to create a crackle finish in your home.

Video Transcription:

Five easy steps to a crackle finish.

Begin by applying two coats of Duration Home Interior Latex Matte Paint in your basecoat color.

Use a brush to cut into corners and edge near the ceiling or around windows but while the paint is still wet, blend it into the body of the wall using a ⅜ inch nap mini roller.

This is an important technique to follow, as brush marks will result in an unwanted picture frame effect around the edges of your wall when you're finished.

Cover the entire area and follow the paint label recoat directions before applying a second coat.

Then allow the wall to dry completely.

Next apply faux impressions metallic with a brush and microfiber mini roller using the same cutting in technique as in step one.

Then continue across the entire wall with a 9 inch microfiber roller, using a curving motion in a random overlapping pattern.

After your metallic coat is dry, you're ready to roll a thin, even coat of faux impressions crackle over the entire wall surface.

Wait about an hour before moving to the next step.

Once your wall is dry, yet slightly tacky to the touch, moisten a sea sponge and dip it into the polyurethane.

Press the flattest edge of the sponge against the wall and lift, taking care not to brush or slide.

Then gently dab your dry sponge over the wet surface to remove any drips and excess material.

Work across the wall, slightly overlapping adjacent areas.

Allow to dry overnight.

Once the wall is dry, mix Faux Impressions Latex Glaze with your Glaze Coat Color of Duration Home Interior Latex Matte Paint to create your glaze mixture.

Use a stir stick to evenly spread a small amount of the glaze mixture onto a moistened sponge mitt.

Then rub the glaze on the wall using a random circular action.

As your mitt dries out, you may go back over any areas to lighten the glaze coverage and reveal more of the texture and basecoat color.

Continue working across the wall, repeating this process and blending areas as you go.

This completes your beautiful crackled room.
