How To Create The Textured Fresco Finish | Sherwin-Williams

Create the qualities of Textured Fresco finish. Create a journey through time by reproducing the characteristics of aged, weathered plaster walls by Sherwin-Williams.

Video Transcription:

Three easy steps to a textured fresco finish.

Begin with a two-part process of applying, then back troweling Faux Impressions Dimensional Basecoat.

First float a moistened sea sponge roller with a dimensional basecoat and apply in a curving motion.

Sporadic coverage and thickness are desirable.

Cover an area only as far as you can comfortably reach and quickly move on to the next part of the step.

While the dimensional basecoat is still wet, softly drag a rounded corner trowel across the wall in a random curving motion.

Hold your trowel nearly parallel to the wall, and apply gentle pressure so you don't completely flatten the high spots.

Repeat this process across the wall, blending the edges of each area as you go.

Allow the texture to dry completely.

When no wet or soft spots remain, apply two coats of Duration Home Interior Latex Matte Paint in your basecoat color.

Use a brush to cut into corners and edge near the ceiling or around windows, but while the paint is still wet, blend it into the body of the wall using a ⅜ inch nap mini roller.

This is an important technique to follow as brush marks will result in an unwanted picture frame effect around the edges of your wall when you're finished.

Cover the entire area and follow the paint label rico directions before applying a second coat.

Then allow the wall to dry completely.

Once the paint is dry, mix faux impressions latex glaze with your Glaze Coat Color of Duration Home Interior Latex Matte Paint to create your glaze mixture.

Use a stir stick to evenly spread a small amount of the glaze mixture onto a moistened sponge mitt.

Then rub the glaze on the wall using a random circular action.

As your mitt dries out, you may go back over any areas to lighten the glaze coverage and reveal more of the texture and basecoat color.

Continue working across the wall repeating this process and blending areas as you go.

This completes your beautiful textured fresco room.
