The benefits of high-performance paints, and when to use them

When conditions demand a higher level of durability than even premium architectural coatings provide, it’s your opportunity to upgrade to high-performance paints.

Pro Industrialâ„¢ coatings stand up to heavier wear, harsher conditions and more demanding specifications than conventional coatings.

To help you determine which is the best suited for your next tough job, here are eight high-performance coatings with examples of the types of conditions where they’ll help you exceed your customer’s expectations, no matter what kind of commercial or residential work you do.

1. Pre-Catalyzed Water Based Epoxy

Washability, chemical resistance and an impact-resistant finish make Pre-Catalyzed Water Based Epoxy ideal for high traffic areas like hospitals, schools and restaurants. Excellent hide and great coverage minimizes the number of coats needed. Specially formulated for block, drywall, masonry and concrete, Pre-Catalyzed Water Based Epoxy is perfect for almost any commercial project that demands durability, performance and the ability to withstand repeated cleanings.

2. Pro-Cryl Universal Acrylic Primer

A water-based alternative to solvent-based metal primers for surfaces where rust and corrosion resistance is critical, Pro-Cryl Universal Acrylic Primer is ideal for structural steel, machinery, piping or equipment found in schools, hospitals, hotels, commercial buildings and industrial sites. This primer is early moisture resistant and fast drying. It accepts many topcoats, including hot-solvent urethanes and epoxies, and is available in red-oxide, gray and off-white.

3. Multi-Surface Acrylic

The go-to product for busy contractors who want to minimize inventory without minimizing performance, Multi-Surface Acrylic is a versatile coating suitable for a wide range of interior and exterior substrates. It is ideal for walls and ceilings where a thorough cleaning is hard to achieve. Drying fast to an alkyd-like finish in an acrylic formula, it’s well suited to demanding locations like warehouses, manufacturing sites, schools, hospitals, hotels and industrial facilities.

4. High Performance Epoxy

Specifically designed for industrial maintenance environments and high-performance architectural applications, High Performance Epoxy is a hard, tough all-purpose gloss epoxy engineered for surfaces where chemical and abrasion resistance is essential. It offers one-coat, high film build. High Performance Epoxy is pre-measured and easy to mix, with no induction time.

5. Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy

This hard, tough coating is stain and chemical resistant, and provides exceptional corrosion resistance in direct-to-metal applications. That makes it ideal for commercial spaces. In addition, Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy meets the most stringent VOC regulations.

6. Acrylic Coating

Pro Industrial Acrylic Coating is a fast-drying coating that is perfect for commercial spaces. Easy to apply by brush, roll or spray, it has exceptional stain resistance and exterior color and gloss retention. It meets the most stringent VOC regulations and is available in gloss, semi-gloss and eg-shel.

7. Urethane Alkyd Enamel

Use this high solids, high gloss general-purpose maintenance enamel for interiors or exteriors in industrial environments. Fortified with urethane resin for exterior durability, it provides good exterior color and gloss retention. The performance of Urethane Alkyd Enamel is comparable to silicone alkyds, yet is easy to brush, roll or spray.

8. DTM Acrylic Coating

DTM Acrylic Coating is the ideal choice for interior and exterior durability. This high-performance product offers excellent weathering properties, moisture resistance, corrosion and flash rust resistance. It’s resistant to stains and to most commercial cleaners, and is easy to apply by brush, roll or spray. In addition, DTM Acrylic Coating meets the most stringent VOC regulations.
