Sherwin-Williams Reformulates SuperPaint® and A-100® for Easier Application and to Meet Environmental Standards

ORLANDO, Fla. (February 13, 2008) — Sherwin-Williams reformulates two of its most trusted exterior paints, SuperPaint Exterior Latex and A-100 Exterior Latex, to provide even better flow and leveling, increased hide, contractor-friendly application and a lower VOC (50 g/l) to meet environmental standards.

For years, builders and contractors have relied on SuperPaint and A-100 to cover well and protect against the elements. The new formulation of both of these exterior coatings is lower in volatile organic compounds (VOCs), so the products can be specified on projects that require coatings that meet GS-11 standards while satisfying high application standards for better flow, leveling and hiding.

SuperPaint and A-100 coatings are formulated with Advanced Resin Technology for durability and ease of application. Most sheens can be applied in temperatures as low as 35 degrees Fahrenheit, which extends the production season even in cold weather. The coatings' improved hide withstands the elements, and translates to a better bottom line for builders and contractors with fewer callbacks for touchups and more referrals.

Both coatings are 100 percent acrylic so they cover efficiently and easily on a wide range of surfaces including wood, brick, metal, aluminum siding and masonry. Once applied, they adhere tightly to resist frost, fading, chalking, dirt and mildew, and they will retain color longer despite changing weather conditions. SuperPaint features VinylSafe™ Color Technology so darker paint colors can be applied on vinyl siding without concern that the siding will warp or buckle under the sun’s intense heat. It also resists peeling and blistering in hot, humid conditions.
