Hide Surface Imperfections, Reduce Odors

Sherwin-Williams Builders Solution™ System Now Offers Matte Flat Deep Base, Receives GreenSure® Designation

ORLANDO, Fla. (February 13, 2008) — Two of the leading complaints home buyers have after their new homes are complete are concerns about poor wall appearance — due to even the most minor drywall imperfections and paint touch-ups — and the unpleasant odor of fresh paint. For this reason, Sherwin-Williams has extended its Builders Solution Interior Coating System to include a deep base matte flat finish while meeting Sherwin-Williams proprietary GreenSure designation.

The new, matte flat deep base finish, flatter than the flat finish, hides surface imperfections and offers the same durability, washability and burnish-resistance characteristics even when bold, vivid accent colors are used.  Meanwhile, the GreenSure designation, applied to the company’s coatings that offer long-term durability, as well as the highest indoor air quality ratings with low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and low odor, offers homeowners the peace of mind that they’ll be able to breathe easy in their freshly painted homes.

The Builders Solution Interior Coating System is a two-coat system which includes a high-build latex surfacer that hides wall defects such as dents and drywall fuzz, as well as a flat, eg-shel and, now, a matte flat deep base topcoat, developed with Sherwin-Williams proprietary AccuTouch™ Technology, for final touch ups. Builders can now specify matte flat finishes in an array of colors—including deep accent shades—that will appeal to their home buyers while delivering the look more efficiently than ever.

The finished wall surface will be burnish-resistant and exhibit high color quality and sheen touch-up on light and dark colors. After the job is complete, post-painting scuffs and scratches can be touched up seamlessly for a final appearance that will please home buyers.
