More Color Tools and Advanced Systems Boost Color Confidence
Sherwin-Williams Takes the Guesswork Out of Color
(CLEVELAND – June 29, 2005) – Sherwin-Williams recently announced several new color tools and advanced systems that provide professionals with the means for fast and accurate color matching, selection and sampling. In addition to the company’s large size fan decks and designer color files of more than 1,000 of the freshest colors, these new online and in-store tools make it possible to choose color with the utmost of ease and confidence.
Color Options Galore
Sherwin-Williams offers COLOR To Go, a color sampling program that features more than 550 paint colors, as well as an unlimited number of custom tints. The try-before-you-buy program is based on selections from the well-respected Sherwin-Williams COLOR palette and can be used for the sampling and approval of custom color matches. It features more color options than any other competitive sample program on the market today.
Color To Go samples are mixed by request in small-sized Twist-n-Pour™ containers that
provide enough paint for a significantly better color preview than the standard color chip, small sampling containers or packets. Even better, the Color To Go concept allows sample application of the selected color on the actual surface where it will be used, so the impact of environmental factors such natural and artificial light can be assessed. Color To Go paint samples take the guesswork out of choosing just the right color. Professionals will improve customer satisfaction by offering their clients more confidence in color selection. One Color To Go sample covers approximately 75 square feet for a true representation of the color.
Fast and Exact Color Matching
More accurate color matching and faster custom matching and mixing is now available to professionals with the Sherwin-Williams Sher-Color™ Advanced Color Technology system for color formulations and tint dispensing. Available at Sherwin-Williams stores, Sher-Color provides colors that consistently match the color chip standard.
While most color systems produce formulas to achieve a close match, Sher-Color generates specific, more accurate formulas for each color, taking into consideration the characteristics of the base the customer has selected. The results are a more consistent match no matter the type of Sherwin-Williams paint or sheen selected. Sher-Color also connects the store’s sales terminal, spectrophotometer (color eye), tint dispenser and label printer so all information is transferred, recorded and stored accurately. Data is entered once and archived for up to seven years, so color formulas can be easily retrieved and previous orders replicated.
Brochure Educates on Achieving Truer Color
Sherwin-Williams details its Color Prime® System in a new brochure that explains how proper use of gray-tint primers will create unsurpassed color accuracy for select bold, deep, vivid and transparent hues from the Sherwin-Williams COLOR palette.
The brochure explains the process of determining the proper gray shade primer through codes on the back of topcoat color chips – a system which will ultimately save time and money because the correct topcoat color can be achieved in fewer coats. Because Color Prime technology pairs the correct gray shade of primer to the specific topcoat color, time-wasting guesswork is minimized, which permits project labor and costs to be more easily budgeted.
The gray shades used in the Color Prime System create an ideal balance of light absorption and light reflection to more successfully achieve the correct topcoat color. In addition, Color-Prime helps overcome the "too dark" problem that can occur when touch-ups are made to surfaces where a white or color-tinted primer was used. With Color-Prime, touch-ups go virtually unnoticed since the topcoat will achieve better hide and a more accurate color match.
Tinting primers with the specified shade of gray will help create results that satisfy customers and make the painting contractors job easier with better touch-up, superior hide, more uniform color and less streaking.
