New Brochure Educates on Achieving Truer Color

Sherwin-Williams Color Prime® Primer System Uses Gray Shades for Correct Topcoat Color

(CLEVELAND - March 10, 2005) - Sherwin-Williams details its Color Prime® Primer System in a new brochure that explains how proper use of gray-tint primers will create unsurpassed color accuracy for bold, deep, vivid and transparent hues from the Sherwin-Williams COLOR palette.

The brochure explains the process of determining the proper gray shade primer through codes on the back of topcoat color chips - a system which will ultimately save contractors time and money because they will achieve the correct topcoat color in fewer coats.  Because Color Prime technology pairs the correct gray shade of primer to the specific topcoat color, time-wasting guesswork is minimized, which permits project labor and costs to be more easily budgeted.

The gray shades used in the Color Prime System create an ideal balance of light absorption and light reflection to more successfully achieve the correct topcoat color.  In addition, Color-Prime helps overcome the "too dark" problem that can occur when touch-ups are made to surfaces where a white or color-tinted primer was used.  With Color-Prime, touch-ups go virtually unnoticed since the topcoat will achieve better hide and a more accurate color match.

Tinting primers with the specified shade of gray will help create results that satisfy customers and make the painting contractors job easier with better touch-up, superior hide, more uniform color and less streaking.
