Faux Finish Line Expanded to Meet Sophisticated Customer Taste
Sherwin-Williams illusions Faux Finishing Blends Style, Application Ease
(LAS VEGAS - January 19, 2004) – New additions to Sherwin-Williams popular illusions Faux Finishing line means homebuilders, painting contractors and designers can increase the creative options they offer to demanding customers who want more choices for distinctive interior finishes. With illusions, it’s possible to get great results the first time out: the system delivers easy-to-achieve, visually appealing faux finish options that require no special expertise or unique tools.
Designed for application over a coordinating base color, Copper Metallic and Pearl Metallic finishes are translucent and add a whole new dimension to painted walls. The new finishes can be sponged, ragged or colorwashed onto walls, doors and trim for a wide variety of effects. They can even be used under illusions crackle product for a rich, antique finish.
Copper Metallic can be applied over any interior latex paint, or mixed with latex glaze. The result is a shimmering copper finish that simulates realistic, heirloom quality. Pearl Metallic can also be applied over most interior paints to add subtle highlights to otherwise one-dimensional colors. The finish is especially effective when used with soft pastels and off-white tones, giving the entire room a soft, iridescent shimmer. When applied over dark colors, Pearl Metallic gives surfaces a delicate sheen that enhances dramatic effects.
Complementing the two new metallic finishes is a re-formulated illusions Latex Glaze which offers an extended open time to give professionals the time they need to create attractive results. Ideally suited for use in sponging, ragging, combing and colorwashing techniques, the glaze helps protect faux wall finishes as it underscores aesthetic appeal. Adding to its easy use is the product’s handy packaging in plastic, re-sealable Twist & Pour™ gallon containers. This container is short-filled so you can add up to one quart of paint right into the container of glaze.
Step-by-step application guides and updated illusions brochures showcase the new finishes in professionally coordinated color palettes that are easy to follow and can also be used as a sales and selection tool with customers.
With the addition of these new finishes to the already-popular illusions Faux Finishing line, Sherwin-Williams is helping contractors to gain a larger share of the fast-growing faux finish market, and helping homebuilders and designers to offer a better selection of faux finish options.
