How To Create A High Polish Fresco Finish

Watch these three simple steps to add a high polish fresco finish to any room.

Video Transcription:

Three easy steps to a high polished fresco finish.

Begin by applying two coats of Duration Home Interior Latex Matte paint in your basecoat color.

Use a brush to cut into corners and edge near the ceiling or around windows.

But while the paint is still wet, blend it into the body of the wall using a ⅜ inch nap mini roller.

This is an important technique to follow as brush marks will result in an unwanted picture frame effect around the edges of your wall when you're finished.

Cover the entire area and follow the paint label recoat directions.

Before applying a second coat, then allow the wall to dry completely.

Once the paint is dry, cover the wall with a thin layer of Faux Impressions Venetian Plaster.

Hold the spatula nearly parallel to the wall surface and spread out a dollop of tinted plaster using a random curbing motion.

Repeat this process across the wall overlapping adjacent areas and working to reduce any heavy ridges or bumps.

After allowing the first layer to dry, apply a second coat of your tinted plaster.

Use the same technique as previously shown but hold the spatula at a higher angle to the wall.

This will scrape the plaster into any recessed areas and create a nearly smooth surface.

Your final step is to create a polished sheen by burnishing the wall.

To burnish, place a clean spatula nearly parallel against the wall, apply firm pressure and rub it across the surface, again using random overlapping patterns until the desired sheen is achieved.

This completes your beautiful high polished fresco room.
