How to Stain Driveways

Read these guidelines for staining concrete driveways. Sherwin-Williams has great products for concrete, asphalt and inclined driveway stain projects.

Staining driveways is a quick way to update and enhance the look of your home. The process can be relatively quick and easy. Just follow the steps below and enjoy your stained driveway.

Concrete Driveways

  1. Clean driveway and prepare the surface.
  2. Apply two coats of H&C® COLORTOP™ Solvent-Based Solid Color Concrete Sealer according to label directions.

Asphalt Driveways

  1. Clean driveway and prepare the surface.
  2. Apply two coats of H&C® COLORTOP™ Water-Based Solid Color Concrete Stain according to label directions.

Inclined Driveways

If desired, add H&C® SharkGrip® Slip Resistant Additive to the stain prior to application.

  • SharkGrip® will not change the color of the stain.
  • SharkGrip® should not be used in place of a non-skid finish.
